In the colonial period, cachaça was a dietary supplement for enslaved people. Hours of arduous journeys, torture, with little food and drink serving to heal the pain of the soul. In my experience, over 30 years of life, I have come across many alcoholic people, and unfortunately, mostly black men and people from lower social classes.
Analyzing this context, I came across alcoholism present in several people in my family, and in this photo shoot, I brought my uncle Amintas Jorge Mota, who lived with this serious problem for almost his entire life. He is unfortunately no longer with us.
This photographic editorial aims to make a personal reflection, starting from a historical slavery context, of how alcoholism killed and is gradually killing many people close to me.
